Interoperability Communication Trailers and Special Use Equipment

UCA has built and maintains 6 communications trailers designed to be deployed to either planned or unplanned events where adequate communications may not exist. The trailers are equipped with radios in the amateur band, VHF, UHF, 800 conventional and 800 trunking. The radios can be tied together through audio gateways that create seamless communications to the users working an event regardless of the radios that they carry. All of the trailers are fully self-sustaining equipped with battery banks and backup generators that will enable the trailers to run for several days during an event. The trailers will be hauled to a location and configured by UCA personnel upon request.

The trailers are staged in the following areas:

  • Box Elder County
  • Salt Lake County
  • Summit County
  • Sevier County
  • Carbon County
  • Iron County

UCA also has the capability to provide two portable diesel generators.

The portable generators are both rated at 100 kVA, 80kW and come equipped with a 180 gallon fuel tank. These generators were designed to supply power to communications sites in the event commercial power is lost for a significant amount of time, however they can also be used to supply emergency backup power in many emergency situations when needed.
